Avon lies just to the West of Vail and is the town located at the base of Beaver Creek Mountain. Famous for the largest 4th of July fireworks display in the state of Colorado, this charming town has a beautiful lake that offers ice-skating in the winter and paddle boating and fishing in the summer. The Eagle River runs through it and hosts rafters, tubers and kayaks starting as early as late April. Gold medal fly fishing is a year round pursuit for the avid anglers in the area. Avon recently added a high speed gondola for skier access to Beaver Creek and Bachelor Gulch mountains, as well as Arrowhead Mountain. There are numerous shops and restaurants in town ranging from sandwich shops to Wolfgang Puck's. Gorgeous views of Beaver Creek, and mountain sunsets to the West make this a great place to be.
